why linen?
Flax linen is a hardy natural fibre known for its softness, durability, and longevity, making it an ideal textile for bedding. Linen gets softer and smoother with wash and wear, retaining its value and beauty over time (some might say increasing it.) It is naturally thermoregulating and a perfect balance of breathable and insulating which keeps you cozy when it’s cool and cool when it’s hot.
Linen is hypoallergenic, anti-microbial, moth-resistant, biodegradable (when untreated or dyed), and hygroscopic (it absorbs moisture from its environment - hello, sweaty sleepers). Compared to cotton, linen is more breathable, more absorbent and 30% stronger. Crazy, right?
The environmental footprint of linen is another major reason why we love it so much. It requires little water to grow, and depending where it's grown, often requires no irrigation. France has an ideal climate for growing flax, so the only water used comes directly from the sky. It can be grown using no fertilizer or pesticides, and the transformation process from fibre to textile requires no chemicals. Flax has very high CO2 absorption and all parts of the plant are used when harvested. Yep, all true.
Our heirloom quality French linen is stonewashed, giving it a soft yet crisp feel to the hand. It's natural crinkle gives an inviting appearance which can elevate and personalize any room. Linen has a way of sneaking into your life and taking over because the more you use it, the more you'll fall in love.
